Isla Mae McLeod, age 102, passed away peacefully at Greenwood Court, Stratford on November 9, 2017. Born in Schuyler, Alberta, daughter of the late Lorne Alexander and Isla (Swanson) Gordon. Isla Mae was predeceased by her husband Samuel Malcolm Hurd McLeod July 12, 1994. Loving mother of Lynne Ternosky and the late Mary Louise Driedger (2017). Mother-in-law of Bill Driedger. Dear sister of Rev. Kayy Gordon. Grandmother of Lara Ternosky, Nick Ternosky, Katie Ninomiya (Matt), Jenny Jantzi (Andrew). Great grandmother of Elle, Evan, Will and Quinn. Predeceased by her siblings Lorne Gordon (Nonie), Dixie Horrobin (Les), Roger Gordon, Grant Gordon (Emily) and Iris Fraser (Hugh).

Isla Mae lived a long, wonderful life full of rich experiences and lasting relationships. Isla Mae is remembered for her spunk. Her graciousness and hospitality towards others drew people to her. Her generosity touched the lives of many. She loved to laugh and have a great time. No matter what the age, she was always the life of the party. Even as she passed 100 years of age, she could still make her family laugh with her great sense of humor. Her positive outlook on life was always appreciated. Isla Mae made the best of each situation she found herself in.

Isla Mae demonstrated deep care for her family. Her interest in each and every member of her family was so clearly evident. Her face visibly lit up when her great-grandchildren came to see her and she loved to create fun times for them with every visit. Her investment in her grandchildren from a young age to adulthood was deeply valued. As a mother and mother-in-law she offered such a steady, encouraging presence modeling perseverance and positivity through the years. She will be missed greatly.

A celebration of Isla Mae’s life will be held at Avon Mennonite Church, 90 Greenwood Drive, Stratford on Wednesday, November 15, 2017, at 2:00 p.m. with visitation one hour before the service. A reception will follow in the auditorium. Interment at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, London. As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to Perth County Alzheimer Society, Heart & Stroke Foundation or the Rotary Foundation Annual Fund through the W.G.
