NORMA ELEANOR MORTON

MORTON : NORMA ELEANOR
(nee Mainse)
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our cherished Mother, Grandmother and Great-grandmother at Northumberland Hills Hospital, Cobourg, on Friday November 10, 2017. Beloved wife of the late William Hamilton Morton. Devoted mother of Linda Fleming (Berkeley), Lesley Rose (Harold) and William Morton (Jamie). Grandmother of David Fleming (Christiana), Michael Fleming (Wendy) and Daniel Rose. Great-grandmother of Bailey, Amelia, Sophie, Benjamin, Hannah and Isaac. Will be sadly missed by Paulette and many nieces and nephews. Survived by her sister, Dorothy Heys and her brother, Hollis Mainse. Predeceased by brother, Allen Mainse. Norma was born on April 22, 1922 in North Shore, Saskatchewan. She was the third child of Ethel and Charles Mainse and was a talented seamstress and homemaker. She attended Jarvis Collegiate and married Flight Lieutenant William Hamilton Morton on October 11, 1941 in Toronto. After the war, they enjoyed beautiful homes in Quebec and Ontario. Family, friends and pets were important to Norma and she enjoyed her treasured time at the family cottage on Whitefish Lake. Norma fought a fierce and courageous battle with Alzheimer's and passed away just as she lived, with dignity, strength and honour. A Private Family Graveside Service will be held at Halladay Cemetery, Elgin. As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations to the Alzheimer Society, your local humane society or the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated. The family would like to thank the staff at Extendicare, Cobourg and Northumberland Hills Hospital for their care and support.
