
Marilyn Nowlan
NOWLAN, Marilyn Theresa – 61, of 284 Faulkland Street, Pictou, passed away suddenly on April 26, 2011 in the QEII. Born in DeBaies Cove, she was the daughter of the late Annie (Campbell) and Nelson DeBaie, of Mabou. She is sadly missed by loving husband of 41 years, Gary, of Pictou; son, Stephen (Jennifer), Dartmouth; daughters, Wendy and Sharon, both of Pictou; grandchildren, Isaac, Joshua, Rebecca, Leith, Eli, Lily, and Keira; sisters, Shirley (MacDonald), of Mabou; Catherine (Francis MacDonald), Creignish; and brothers, Angus (Mary Jane) DeBaie, of New Glasgow; Albert (Elizabeth) DeBaie, Mabou; many loving nieces and nephews and cousins. Marilyn was well known for her hospitality, both in her home and as founding owner of Evening Sail Bed and Breakfast, and for her artistic styles in her Artcetra Art and Frame Shop. However, she will be best remembered for her perennial flower gardens and could often be seen strolling, inspecting growth, or digging in good weather and sometimes bad. Cremation has taken place under the direction of McLaren Funeral Services, 246 Faulkland Street, Pictou, where visitation will be held on Saturday, from 2-4 and 7-9pm. Celebration of Marilyn’s life will be held at McLaren Funeral Chapel on Monday, May 2, at 11am with interment to follow at Heatherdale Memorial Gardens. Family flowers only; donations in her memory may be made to the Kidney Foundation or Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, or plant a tree.
