Edward Frank Phillips

Passed in: Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada
Passed on: November 15th, 2017

It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of our beloved husband, father and grandfather on November 15, 2017 at the Halifax Infirmary surrounded by loved ones. Ed age 82 was born in 1935.
Ed proudly served in the Canadian Armed Forces, first with the artillery, then as a fire fighter, from 1958-1981, followed by a career with the Fire Commissioners Office of Canada until his retirement in 1995. Although retired, Ed never slowed down and could always be found busying himself in his yard, workshop or garage. One who loved to be busy, he was always lending a hand to his family, friends or anyone else who could use it.
Ed and his wife of 61 years enjoyed traveling together, with trips throughout Canada, Alaska, Mexico and Jamaica. Ed’s top priority and his greatest pride was his family and he had an endless capacity for love, kindness and optimism. Although he leaves an un-fillable void, we will continue to live and love as he taught us. Undoubtedly, his company will be missed by all of his morning coffee friends.
Predeceased by his parents, Cecil and Margaret Phillips; his brother, Gary Phillips; and infant daughter, Mary.
Ed is survived by his loving wife, Phyllis; children, Janice (Gerald) Lecky, Lois (Paul) Thibodeau, David (Connie) Phillips and Debbie (Darren Czech) Phillips; siblings, Jean (Ed) Gillis and Robert (Eleanor) Phillips; grandchildren, Brianne, Justin (Sheralyn), Nicole, Ryan (Ashley), Sheena (Sean), Kayla (Deryk), Chelsea (Mike) and Reghan; and five great-grandchildren.
Memorial service will be held at the Atlantic Funeral Home, 125 Sackville Drive at 1 p.m., Saturday, November 18, 2017.
Donations in memory can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society
