Emily Helen JUBY
August 17, 1924 - December 1, 2017

Emilia "Emily" Helen Juby passed away peacefully on December 1, 2017 at Mont St. Joseph Home. Emily was born in Holdfast, SK on August 17, 1924 to Nicholas and Helen (nee Selinger) Burkart. In 1933 the family moved north to the Pilger area where she worked alongside her parents and older siblings to build the family farm. Emily loved playing, coaching, and watching sports. She also loved cooking and gardening, but most of all she loved children. ‘Em’ was always interested in what the younger generation was doing, and gave the kids her undivided attention. She was the best ‘Nana’ - our #1 cheerleader! Emily was very involved with the ANAVETS Ladies Auxillary from 1973 to 2008. She held many positions on the provincial board and served as president of the local executive for several years. In 1988 she earned a Lifetime Membership. She was also proud to receive the Commemorative Medal at the 125th Anniversary of Canadian Confederation for her tireless effort on behalf of the community, veterans, and their families. While Emily will be remembered for her loyalty and sense of humour, we remember her most of all for her generosity. We would like to thank the staff of Mont St. Joseph for caring for Emily with kindness, compassion and dignity. Words cannot express our appreciation. Emily was predeceased by her parents Nicholas & Helen Burkart; her husband Garnet; her son-in-law Gust; her sisters Elizabeth, Barbara and Cecilia, and her brothers John and Raymond. She is survived by her daughter Bonnie Nun; granddaughter Paige (Ken) Harasyn (Brennen, Jordan); grandson G. Jay (KataLina) Nun (Taylor, Charlie, Halston); sisters Doreen (Verner) Lange, Claudeen VanderVelden and Jeanette Schuler; special nephew Zane Schuler; special niece Renae Belfour; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. A Private Family Service will be held. In lieu of other tributes, memorial donations can be made to the Mont St. Joseph Foundation or to a charity of donor’s choice. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.grays.ca. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Gray's Funeral Chapel, (306-922-4729).
