It is with great sadness that the family of the late Josephine Joan Nichols, announce her passing on Friday, December 8th, 2017 at the age of 73. Joan will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 48 years, Ivan James; her children Ivan Roy, Stacy, and son-in-law Curtis Dawe. She leaves 3 grandchildren Ivan Ryan, Callum and Sadie. Also mourning are her brothers Edward, Tony (Phyllis) and Marty (Jenny), sisters-in-law Betty and Debbie. She was predeceased by her parents, John Felix and Nettie-Hope Delaney (nee Allen), brothers John Alfred, and Christopher, and step-brother Len Snook. Joan will also be forever remembered by her numerous uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces, cousins and friends including best friends of teenage years Mary Dantzer, Eunice Lambert, and Donna Nowe of Kitchener. She loved Marina Park, her daughter Samantha, Marilyn Stevens, Karon Parsons and Marlene Pittman like her family. Special thanks to the staff at Deer Lake Manor, to the doctors and nurses in Palliative Care at WMRH and Dr. Brazil, the pulmonary specialist. Special thank you to Major Henry Bingle, Major Winnie Burt, The Salvation Army Church in Deer Lake and Parsons Funeral Home. Visitation was held at Parsons Funeral Home in Deer Lake on Tuesday, Dec. 12th, 2017 from 2-4 and 7-9pm. The funeral service in memory of Joan will be held at the Salvation Army Church in Deer Lake today., Dec. 13th, 2017 at 2:00 pm. The family will be receiving family and friends after the funeral service at YP Hall. Interment will be held at the Salvation Army plot at the interdenominational cemetery on Wight’s Rd. No flowers by request, but donations will be gladly accepted by the Salvation Army Church Building Fund or the Pulmonary Lung Disease Foundation.
