Richard W. Jones
1944-2017
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Richard Whitcomb Jones, age 73, of Bayfield, NB. Richard passed away, surrounded by his loving family, on Saturday, December 9, 2017 at the Moncton Hospital.
Born in Bayfield, he was a son of the late Ralph and Frances (Hoch) Jones.
Richard spent 40 years serving the community as a peace officer, but truly lived to be there for those he loved. At first glance he was gruff and intimidating, but the minute he smiled everyone fell in love with his kind heart. Unless, of course, you failed to get out the trump. In the hearts of those that loved him, He "may not have been the best, but there was nobody better". He was a kind and generous man, imperfect, but so easy to love.
He will be sadly missed by his children Michael (Pam), Woodpoint, NB, Rick (Indira Smith), Calgary, AB, Ralph (Heidi), Cold Lake, AB, Gordie (Ivy), Ottawa, ON, and Julie Jones, Riverview, NB; grandchildren Sarah, Josh, Jessica, Mulu, Max, Oliver, Ellliana, Jack, Jacob, Madeline, Olivia, and Victoria; sisters Phyllis (Roger) Tingley, London, ON, Judith (Roger) Madge, Oshawa, ON; several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by brothers Russell, David and Howard and sister Jacqueline.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Jones Funeral Home, 70 Bridge St., Sackville, NB (506-364-1300) where his funeral service will be held on Wednesday, December 13, 2017 at 2 pm, William Drysdale, DLM officiating.
