ROCKY MOUNTAIN – Elsie Isabel (Archibald) MacDonald of Rocky Mountain, Pictou County, passed away peacefully at home on May 3, 2011.
Born in Newtown, Guysborough County, she was a daughter of the late Arthur and Emma (Cameron) Archibald.
She attended Success Business School. Elsie devoted her life to raising her family and being bookkeeper for the family business, George F. MacDonald and Sons Bulldozing and Trucking Co. Ltd. Spending time with her family, tending her many flowers, baking and knitting for her family were her favorite past times.
She was always willing to serve her family, church and community in anyway. She was a member of Bethany United Church, Bethany UCW, East River St. Mary’s Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary, LOBA Lodge, and the PC Party.
She will be lovingly remembered and never forgotten by her husband of 64, years George F., her children: Doug (Brenda) and Tara, Jennifer, Letitia, Trevor; Isabel (Glen) Tate and Krista, Karla, Stephen; Joanne (Danny) Clifton and Gina, Jonathan, Brian, Justin; Melvin (Phyllis) and Wade; Wayne; Dale (Michelle) and Katie, Brittany; Robert (Lena) and Darrick; Marie Cameron and Tyler, Zackary; Kevin (Judy) and Amy, Daniel, Emma; Kathy MacDonald (Allister) and Spencer, Riley; Allan and Denica; Sheldon (Lisa) and Connor; Cheryl and Chelsie; 17 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews; loving sisters: Margaret Cleveland, Violet (Scott) Fraser and Edna Fraser.
She was predeceased by her son, Ralph; daughter-in-law, Mary-Lou; sister, Marie Illsley, brothers: Cecil, Hugh and Henry.
Her remains will rest in the H.W. Angus Funeral Home, New Glasgow from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday and 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday. Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in Zion Presbyterian Church, East River St. Mary’s with Derek Elsworth officiating. Burial will be in Valley View Cemetery, East River St. Mary’s.
