Passed on: December 13th, 2017

It is with great sadness that our family had to say goodbye to Daniel “Danny Boy” at the age of 70. Dan lost his courageous battle with cancer on Wednesday, December 13, 2017. His "Gaviscator was not segotiating soluberasley".
He leaves behind his loving spouse of 31 years, Genevieve; his daughters, Launa (Frank), Pam (Neil), and stepchildren, Cathy and Eric. Dan's greatest joy was his grandchildren, Megan (Derek) and (great-grandbaby to be) Caleb, Mya, Ben, Shayla, Ava and Sam.
Dan's journey began in Glace Bay, Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia. At the age of 15 years, he worked at the Moirs Chocolate Factory in Halifax. In 1965 he enlisted with the RCR. He served in Germany until 1968. Dan relocated to Ontario and became a member of the Ironworkers Union, Local 736 in 1974, and continued until his retirement. He was actively involved with the Retirees Club for the past 15 years, meeting with the members for a monthly breakfast. In 1982 Dan was initiated into Seymour Lodge 272 (Ancaster, Ontario), where he was very dedicated.
He had great advice, and he was always able to find the humour in every situation. Dan loved doing projects around his home and helping family and friends with theirs. His presence will be missed as he made such an impact on everyone he met.
Dan is predeceased by his mother, Lillian Rose Snow; his father, Andrew Alfonsis, and his brothers, Frankie (Kay) and Wayne.
Dan is survived by his loving sister, Linda (Stewart) and uncle, Leroy, along with many nieces and nephews.
A special thank you to the staff of Juravinski Cancer Centre for all their support and kindness, especially Dr. Slaven and Dr. Kazemi. Also to Bayshore (Suzanna), Bob Kemp Hospice, Dr. Fahmy, and Peggy (our lifesaver).
Family and friends are invited to a Memorial Visitation at Marquis Gardens, 1365 Sandhill Dr., Ancaster, Ontario on December 28, 2017.
