Grace Larson, beloved wife of Leonard Larson of Kinistino passed away on Monday, May 2, 2011 at the age of 80 years with her loving husband at her side. Grace was born in Unger, SK to Emil and Pauline Shurshen. They moved to the Norden district when Grace was a young child, and then to a farm Northwest of Weldon where she finished her schooling. In 1949, she met Len and they married on March 1954. They purchased land north of Kinistino from Len’s father to start their own farm. Grace and Len had 1 son, Mark born in 1967. Len and Grace resided on the farm until they retired in 1996. Grace was blessed with a daughter in law Pam in 1996, and 3 very special grandchildren, Lucas, Colby and Kaeli, all of which she loved dearly. Throughout her life, Grace loved to help in the community always lending a helping hand with community events. She also volunteered for 16 years at the Jubliee Lodge in Kinistino. Graced loved spending time at their trailer at Emma Lake and had many fond memories of the time her and Len spent with their large group of friends and with the grandchildren. She was fortunate to travel and stay in contact with extended family in Norway throughout her life which she found great enjoyment in. Grace’s faith was an important part of her life, and she always had a big smile and a warm hello for everyone.
She was predeceased by her maternal parents Emil and Pauline Shursen, and brother Elmer Shursen. She is survived and missed immensely by her devoted husband Len of Kinistino, son Mark and his wife Pam of Saskatoon, very special grandchildren Colby and Kaeli Larson of Saskatoon, and Lucas Smith of Prince Albert.
Funeral to be held Friday, May 6th, 2pm at Kinistino Legion Hall.
