Frances Lily (Gorman) Sproule

Sproule (Gorman), Frances Lily, age 95, of Truro, passed away peacefully Tuesday, December 19, 2017 at Parkland Estates Truro. Born in McCallum Settlement, she was the daughter of the late Milton and Leta (Tattrie) McNutt. She is survived by daughter, Wilma (Darrell) Landsburg; son, Wayne Gorman; daughter-in-law, Barb Gorman; sister-in-law, Anna-Marion McNutt; 9 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; Frances was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was predeceased by her first husband, Bill Gorman of 48 years; second husband, Clifton (Tip) Sproule; sons, Rollie and Stewart Gorman; brothers, Jack, Elmer, Blair, St. Clair, Harry; sisters, Greta, Helen; daughters-in-law, Eleanor and Maureen. Frances took great pride in making quilts and some were sold as far away as Australia, Los Angeles, Washington DC. and Ontario. She was a member of the North River United Church, past member of North River United Church Choir, and past member of the Friendly Hour Group. She was an Elder of the North River United Church, member of the 60 plus Bowling League, and the Good Neighbours Bowling League. Past member of the Good Times Seniors Dance Club. Special thanks to the nurses and staff at Fergus Hall Parkland for the care and friendship they gave to our mother. Visitation will be held 7–9 pm Friday, December 22, and funeral service 2 pm Saturday, December 23, all in the Mattatall ~ Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street Truro, with Rev. John Parsons officiating. A reception to follow in the funeral home. Interment to then take place at the North River United Church Cemetery in North River. Family flowers only. Donations in Frances’ memory may be made to the North River United Church, or to a charity of your choice.
