Frank Moricky

At the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance on Tuesday, May 3rd, 2011, Frank Moricky, age 88, of Chatham, beloved husband of Beulah (MacInnes) Moricky.
Born in Hluk the Czech Republic on November 22, 1922, he was son the late Marie (Stranak) and John Moricky.
Frank attended school in Hluk and started work early in life selling produce (rabbits) at the market in Yhersky, Hradiste. During his youth he experienced many changes in his country with the German Occupation, the communist takeover, followed by the loss of his bedroom slipper business that he shared with his late brothers Jan and Antonin. He worked in Norway for two years prior to his arrival here in 1951. He loved the freedom of Canada and worked many jobs to survive and learn English. He received his pipeline welding certificate in Vancouver and worked in many locations throughout Western Canada.
He is survived by his niece Mary Kadlckova (Zdenek), nephews: Vaclav (Vera), Jan (Bozena), Ing Mirik (Dr. Vera) and Lubomir (Stranka) and their families in The Czech Republic as well as Beulah’s sisters, Christene Thompson, and Elizabeth Balcome of Nova Scotia and nieces: Anne Cook, Arla Murrant and Bette MacLean and their families as well as a special “grandson” Alexis Moor. Friends and relatives may visit at the Hinnegan-Peseski Funeral Home, 156 William St. S. Chatham from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Friday. Funeral Service will be conducted in the Hinnegan-Peseski Chapel on Saturday, May 7th, 2011 at 11 a.m. Cremation will follow and ashes will be returned to the Czech Republic. Donations to the Alzheimer’s Society or the charity of your choice would be appreciated.
