The death occurred at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital on Tuesday, January 2, 2018, of Egbert “Bert” Boertien, of Souris, PE, in his 86th year. Predeceased by his wife Florence Boertien (nee Stewart), and dear father of Berend, Allen (Teri), Lorraine Hennessey (Frank), Lloyd, Richard (Millie), Philip (Janet), and Peter. Fondly remembered by special niece Shirley Murphy (Francis). He will be missed by 13 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and in-laws in Canada and Holland. Egbert immigrated to Canada in 1950 following his brother Stoffer Boertien. He is the last surviving member in a family of 10 siblings. Resting at Dingwell Funeral Home with private family visiting hours by personal request. A public funeral service will be held at the Kingsboro Baptist Church on Thursday, January 4, 2018 at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Kingsboro cemetery fund would be appreciated.
