Gloria Bridget Barry “Dude”, 84, passed away peacefully on January 2nd, 2018 surrounded by her family in the Palliative Care Unit, at the Aberdeen Hospital in New Glasgow.
She was born in Little Dover the daughter of the late Donald and Evelyn (Bouchie) Myatt.
Gloria was known for many things but all who knew her knew her strong love for her family and all those she kept dear in her heart. All who visited Gloria would be sure to leave having experienced her beautiful smile, kindness and a taste of her delicious cooking. Her love for music and dancing was often shown on Friday Nights at the Royal Canadian Legion in Stellarton where she will be missed by many.
Gloria is survived by her three daughters Doreen (Bill) Barry-Burns, Airdrie AB; Rhonda (Lee) Barry, Summerside PE and Patricia Barry, Stellarton NS. Siblings Harvey (Shirley), Bill, Vera (Arthur), Bernard (Faye), Beatrice (Winslow), Sylvia (Harold), David (Wanda) and Bernadette (Ray). Grandchildren Christopher (Amy), Larissa (Kendell) and Kristy-Lynn (Dave). She is also survived by her seven great-grandchildren Janaya, Alyssa, Nevaeh, Liam, Kayde, Braeden and Lily who will always have treasured memories of their beloved “Nanny Dude”.
Besides her parents she was pre deceased by her beloved husband James Barry “Jimmy” and siblings Donald, Bert, Fred and sister in law Janesta.
The family will receive guests on Friday January 5th, 2018 from 2-4pm and 6-8pm in the H.C. MacQuarrie Funeral Chapel, Stellarton. Celebration of life will immediately follow the visitation at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #28 Stellarton and all are welcome. Funeral Service will be held on Saturday January 6th, 2018 at 2pm at St Agnes Parish in Little Dover with Father Charles Cameron presiding. A reception will be held at St Agnes Parish center following burial.
Donations in her memory may be made to the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #28 or the Aberdeen Hospital Palliative Care Society.
