THOMPSON, Howard “Sonny” Arthur- age 86 of Brazil Lake, Yarmouth County passed away at the Yarmouth Regional Hospital on January 6, 2018. Born in Overton, Yarmouth County on March 15, 1931, he was the son of the late Howard Arthur Sr. and Laura Vaughn (Brown). Sonny took pride in his work and worked at Met Life Insurance for 28 years. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing, cooking at home and at the hunting camps, being on the flats digging worms, taking trips in the motor home, and camping with his family and friends. He loved sitting around a camp fire and playing guitar. He is survived by his wife, Anna Hurlburt Thompson; daughters, Heather (Henry) Wilton, Janice (Reginald) d’Entremont, Ruth (John) LeBlanc, Elizabeth (Gregory) Jacquard; step daughters, Kelly Murphy and Holly Murphy-Davis; sons, Brian (Lynn), John (Gina); step sons, Scott Eric (Kim), Steve (Suzanne), Jeff (Kathern); brother, Allan Ray; sisters, Ethel Watkins and Jane Deveau; blessed with many grandchildren and great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Sonny was predeceased by wife Joan Balkam, sister Edna, grandchildren Robert and Shawn and 3 great grandchildren in infancy. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home and Crematorium, Yarmouth. Visitation took place on Tuesday, January 9, 2018 from 7-9 p.m. and a funeral service was held Wednesday, January 10, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. all from Sweeny's Funeral Home Chapel, Pastor Kevin Myers officiated. Interment will take place in the spring in Chegoggin Cemetery. Donations may be made to the Tri-County VON or Chegoggin Cemetery.
