Jean passed away peacefully on Jan.16, 2018 at St Martha’s Hospital following a brief illness. She was the daughter of Maude MacKay and adopted daughter of the late Dan Rod and Lilla Fraser. Born in Upper Mt. Thom on June 22, 1921, she never forgot her Mt. Thom roots throughout her life.
In her early years she worked at the George St. Market and Whitey’s Store, later Jean was employed at Waldren’s Studio. She was a people person always taking great interest in everyone she met and never losing contact with her many friends, young and old. She was able to use the computer competently to email and keep up with the news. Jean was an avid reader and had a remarkable memory for details and family history. She was a member of Trinity United Church and UCW.
Jean was predeceased in 2003 by her husband of 53 years, Donald Hugh Fraser, father- in-law D. Gray Fraser, uncle Stuart A. MacKay, brother John Fraser, sister-in-law and brother-in-law Elsie Fraser(Al Johnson). She is survived by her daughter Brenda (Tom) Mountain, Lorne and son Stuart (Barbara) Kings Head. Her grandchildren Laura (Andrew) MacLaughlin, Lindsay Mountain (Aaron Elser), Blair (Beth) Mountain, Bryna (Michael) Hatt, Ryan (Amy) Fraser and her great-grandchildren, Rebecca, Madelyn and Carrie MacLaughlin, Ashton and Oliver Elser, Lily and Ana Mountain, Ava and Ella Hatt and Gray Fraser. She was so very proud of each one and followed all of their activities closely.
Our mother/grandmother/great grandmother lived a full and wonderful life. Throughout her 96 years she showed us how to live by exemplifying unwavering positivity and love.

Cremation has taken place. By her request there will be no visitation. Family flowers only. Public committal service will be held on Sat. Jan. 20th at 2 p.m. at St. Columba Cemetery, Hopewell, with Rev. Jim Webber Cook officiating. Reception to follow at St. Columba Church Hall following the service.
