It is with great sadness that we the family of “Sis” Cecilia Frances Oliver announce her passing at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital – Pallative Care Unit on January 28, 2018. Born in Sydney, she was the daughter of the late John and Sarah (King) Lush.
She enjoyed fun times at the Elks/Royal Purple as well as spending time in Mira and Bateston. She also enjoyed playing darts, cards, doing crossword puzzles and scratching tickets. Many special memories were made with neighbours and friends on Holyrood Drive, and then at My Cape Breton Home for Seniors in Westmount.
Sis is survived by sons, John (Pam), Leo (Debbie); son-in-law, Charles O’Connell; daughter, Sally Corbett (Gary); 10 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; brother, Jack (Joan); sisters, Mary Breen, Margie Bethune, Delores Penney, Pauline (Bud) Somers, Theresa Farrell; sister-in-law, Elsie Lush and numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, John; daughter, Lillian O’Connell; son, Raymond; brothers, Percy and Bernie; as well as sisters, Geraldine Stanwick and Katherine Bartlett.
We wish to extend special thanks to the staff at the CBRH Pallative Care Unit, and everyone at My Cape Breton Home for Seniors in Westmount.
Visitation for Sis will be on Wednesday, January 31, 2018 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at S.W. Chant Funeral Home, 564 Alexandra St., Sydney.
A Celebration of Cecilia’s Life will be held on Thursday, February 1, 2018 at 11 a.m. in the Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Sheldon Chant officiating.
