Age 76, of Amherst, NS and formerly of Georgetown passed away Thursday, February 8, 2018 at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre, Upper Nappan. Born in Georgetown, P.E.I., she was a daughter of the late William and Cecelia (Clarkin) Burke. She is survived by daughters, Angela O’Brien (Gary), Cardigan, P.E.I.; Cathy McAleese (Jamie Grant), Amherst; sisters, Lauretta, Hilda, Mary; brothers, Jimmy, Stewart, Anthony, Cecil, Wayne; brothers-in-law, Roscoe McAleese (Faith) and Fred McAleese (Nancy); grandchildren, Daniel, Evan, Kyle, Jenna, Keera; numerous nieces and nephews; close family friend, Edward Arsenault. She was predeceased by her husband, Daniel; a son, John Paul; a sister, Agnes. As keeping with Virginia’s wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral service held. Burial will take place in St. Brigid’s Catholic Cemetery, Parrsboro at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to the Palliative Care Program of the Cumberland Regional Health Centre.
