Peacefully on 9 February 2018, with her family at her side, at the Elisabeth Bruyère Hospital, after a courageous battle with cancer, of June Cheverie of Ottawa and formerly of Pembroke, Ontario, in her 80th year. Predeceased by her loving husband Gerard (Gerry) Cheverie, brother Bob Arnold, sister-in-law Sylvia Arnold, sister Ruth Mossman, and by her parents George and Lillian Arnold. Dear mother of Christopher (Karen), Perry (Cathy), and Paul (Anne). Loving grandmother of Kassandra, James, and Alice. Loving step-grandmother of Jillian, Karina, Holly, and Spencer. Sister of Frank, Madonna (Bert), Charles (Monika), and Steve (Linda). Sister-in-law of Raye Mossman. June is the sister-in-law of Fr. Charlie Cheverie, Red and Ginny Cheverie, Mary and Harold Jenkins (both deceased), Dot and Jim Knight (both deceased), Winston and Marina Cheverie, Carl and Linda Cheverie, Wayne and Terri Cheverie, and David and Elizabeth Cheverie. She will be missed by numerous nephews and nieces. June was born and raised in Pembroke, Ontario and met her beloved Gerard in CFB Petawawa. They wed in 1957 and raised a family of three boys. June tirelessly raised her family amidst many military moves as Gerard served his country. June loved her Ottawa Senators hockey team and rarely missed watching a game, even during her illness. She was also immensely proud of her hockey family heritage – NHLers Frank Nighbor and Paul Byron. June volunteered many hours with the local soup kitchen and church activities. June loved family gatherings at her home in Ottawa and visiting family in Ontario and the Maritimes. She and Gerard enjoyed many road trips in Canada and the U.S. as well as attending numerous fiddle events. All are invited to Beechwood Funeral, Cemetery and Cremation Services, 280Beechwood Avenue, Ottawa, on 14 February 2018, 6-9 PM. Funeral Mass will be celebrated by Fr. Charlie Cheverie at The Good Shepherd Parish, 3092 Innes Road, Ottawa on 15 February 2018 at 11 a.m. Memorial donations may be made to The Ottawa Hospital Cancer Centre http://ohfoundation.ca/current-priorities/cancercare/ottawa-hospital-cancer-centre or Campaign Life Coalition https://www.campaignlifecoalition.com/donate/ .
