John ‘Jack’ L.  Patriquin

With deep sadness, we share the passing of John ‘Jack’ L. Patriquin, 88, at home, with family, on February 14, 2018. Born in New Glasgow, Nova Scotia, he was the son of the late William and Hazel (Wisener) Patriquin.
In addition to his parents, Jack was predeceased by his loving wife of 58 years, Noreen; a son, Brian; two half brothers, Harold and Roy, and a half sister, Margaret.
He is survived by his daughter, Gail (Shawn). Jack is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
He enjoyed countless trips to Quarryville with his best friend, Eddie, to Doaktown with Ed, and exchanging stories with Shane on drawing and animation.
Jack started an outstanding 41-year career with Sobeys Stores in 1949. He held the position of store manager for 31 years in various locations throughout Nova Scotia and New Brunswick as well as area supervisor for nine years in New Brunswick and Gaspé Peninsula. In 1990, he received the prestigious President’s Trophy.
Jack was a man of faith who cared deeply for his family and community. He was a long-term member of Mount Royal United Church and Choir for over 40 years. He was a Sobeys Quarter Century Club Alumni, a member of the Moncton Fish & Game Association, New Brunswick Wildlife Federation and the Atlantic Salmon Federation. He was a former member of the minstrels and male choir in New Waterford, Nova Scotia, as well as Past President of the Moncton Mall Merchants Association. Jack was an avid woodworker, seasoned fly fisherman, master fly tier, and computer enthusiast. With a great love of music, he enjoyed singing and playing the guitar, banjo, and ukulele.
His family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to Dr. Tania Harquail, Dr. Lisa Searle, and the compassionate team of Extra-Mural Palliative Care (Driscoll Unit – especially Natasha, Margo, Sarah, and Joanie).
A memorial service celebrating Jack’s life will be held on Saturday, February 17, 2018, at 1 p.m. at Mount Royal United Church, Moncton. A reception will follow in the Church Hall. Interment will be in Fair Haven Memorial Gardens at a later date.
In Jack’s memory, donations to the Friends of the Moncton Hospital Foundation - Palliative Care, Mount Royal United Church, or charity of choice would be appreciated by the family.
