CHARLEBOIS, Gerald “Chuck” – Chuck Charlebois peacefully passed with his wife and daughter at his side, at St. Joseph’s Continuing Care Centre, Cornwall on Thursday February 22, 2018 at the age of 69 years. Beloved husband of 47 years to Suzan (née Rochon) Charlebois. Loved father of Michel Charlebois (Wendy) and Christine Smith (Sandy). Sadly missed by his grand-daughter Kaitlyn Charlebois. Dear brother of Robert Charlebois (Maureen Delaney). Dear brother-in-law of Georgette Allaire (late Maurice), Fleurette Mousseau, Maurice Rochon (Joan), Claudette Legault (Carm). Predeceased by his parents Herve and Mabel (née Tessier) Charlebois and brothers-in-law Aurelien “Pit” Rochon (Dorothy) and Jacques Rochon (Pauline). He will be sadly missed by many nephews, nieces and all who knew him. A strong and fervent community supporter, Chuck was involved with many progressive movements for the betterment of Cornwall and was always a force for positive change. In particular, he was a champion and visionary for the Le Village area and the eastern part of Cornwall. As well as being a former city councillor, he was recognized for many of his achievements. In particular, Citizen of the Year in 1999; and most recently, in October of 2017 the naming of the “Chuck Charlebois Recreational Trail” in the Cotton Mill area. He was the Founder and President of the Renaissance Group. To honour Chuck’s request, there was no visitation, cremation has taken place and a private, intimate family service was held. Rite of Committal will be held at a later date in Nativity Parish Cemetery. If so desired, contributions in his memory to the Children’s Treatment Centre or St. Joseph’s Continuing Care Centre, Palliative Care, would be appreciated by the family.
