Valerie Eldridge

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Valerie, age 60, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital after a brief illness. Born in New Waterford she was the daughter of Melvin and the late Jean Eldridge. Valerie is survived by her cherished son, Paul (Nikki), who never left her side and her two beautiful grandsons, Lukas, age 11, and Nash, age 7, who she adored and deeply loved. She is also survived by brothers, Terry (Patricia), Sheldon and her wonderful sister, Sherry, who was with her day and night during her sickness, also brother-in-law, Danny Lund, nephews, Craig, Tyler, Michael (Barbara-Jean), Andrew (Brittany), Ryan (Jill), Kyle and niece Kayla.
Valerie was a valued employee of the Legal Aide staff in Sydney for 35 years where she made many friends, especially her best friend Darlene Shruder. Valerie was a quiet, kind and private person with strong faith who enjoyed many summers with the family at their bungalow in Mira, especially when Paul, Nikki, and the boys would visit from Fort St. John, BC during their vacations. As per Valerie’s wishes cremation has taken place and no visitation. A Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, March 7, 2018 at 11 a.m. in the Parish of Saint Leonard, Mt. Carmel Ave. with Father Ray Huntley officiating. Burial in Union Grove Cemetery, Scotchtown followed by a luncheon at the parish hall, Convent St. All are welcome. A special thank you to the wonderful, caring doctors, nurses and staff at the I.C.U. in the Cape Breton Regional Hospital. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of McLellan Brothers Funeral Home, 3183 Plummer Ave., New Waterford, 902-862-7500.
