It is with broken hearts that we, the family, announce the passing of George McNeil, age 65 the love of our lives. George was the son of the late Chris (Morrison) McNeil.
He was a long-time employee of Devco Railway and was currently employed by CBNS Railway, Port Hawkesbury, as well, George was a carpenter by trade.
Left to mourn, his loving wife of 44 years, Joann (Lynk); two sons, Brian (Courtney), Glace Bay and Kevin (Reni), Ottawa; his pride and joy, his grandchildren, Jaelyn, Kale, Matheson and
Emily. Also surviving are his sister, Terry (Harold) Daigle; brothers, Hal and David (Sharon); his mother-in-law, Marie Lynk; brothers-in-law, Freeman (Helen), John (Donna), Wayne (Paulette), Kenny; and many nieces and nephews. George cherished his time spent with beloved friends
and co-workers.
Besides his mother, George was predeceased by father-in-law, Freeman Lynk; uncles, Babe and George Morrison; nephew, Stephen Treybig; and a special cousin and friend, Sheldon Morrison.
As per his request, cremation has taken place. A visitation will be held on Sunday, March 18, 2018 from 5-9 p.m. and the Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, March 19th at 2 p.m. with celebrant Fr. Daniel Boudreau, both taking place at T. J Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, 370 Reserve St., Glace Bay, NS 902-849-4199. Reception to follow.
In lieu of flowers, donations in George’s name may be made to The Glace Bay General Hospital Palliative Care.
