BLAIR, John Richard – 73, Truro, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 16, 2018, at Halifax Infirmary, QEII, Halifax. Born in Truro, he was a son of the late Lyman and Eunice (Blair) Ryan. John had attended Connection (Wesleyan) Church and was most recently attending Zion United Baptist Church. He worked as a LPN at The Mira and retired in 2003. He was an Associate Member of Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 26, Truro, and was the current President of Good Neighbours Club, where he enjoyed calling bingo. John is survived by his sisters, Etta Williams, Windsor; June Wilson, Portaupique; Barbara Ryan, Great Village; brothers, Aubrey (Susan) Ryan, Truro; Malcolm (Faye) Ryan, Portaupique; David Ryan (Margaret Weatherby), Hilden; sister-in-law, Shirley Ryan, Great Village; several nieces and nephews. Along with his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers, James (Naomi) Ryan, Merle (Rita) Ryan, Everett Ryan. Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall – Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro, where visitation will be held 6-8 p.m., Wednesday, March 21, 2018. Funeral service will be held 11 a.m., Thursday, March 22, 2018, at Zion United Baptist Church, 454 Prince Street, Truro, Pastor Brian O. Johnston officiating. Repast will follow in Fellowship Hall. Interment in Folly Village Cemetery. If so desired, donations in John’s memory to Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia are welcomed.
