Buchanan, Joyce -

The death of Joyce Buchanan of Quispamsis, wife of the late John Dix Buchanan, occurred on Saturday, March 17, 2018 at Kingsway Care Centre. Born in Lockeport, NS on January 3, 1917 she was the daughter of the late Hiram and Winnifred (Parks) Firth.

Joyce graduated from Lockeport High School and successfully continued her studies at the Modern College of Hair Dressing, Hackensack, New Jersey. Family and friends will always remember her as a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend.

Joyce is survived by one daughter, Linda Buchanan (Kenneth Hasuik) of Sydney, Cape Breton; three sons, John Buchanan (Phyllis Nicholson) of British Columbia, Richard Buchanan (Joyce Doucette) of Quispamsis and James Buchanan (Jean Leaman) of Moncton; eleven grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husband, she was also predeceased by her daughter, Susan Buchanan; sister, Peggy Mattatall and brother, Glenwood Firth.

The family would like to extend special thanks of appreciation to the staff and volunteers at St. Joseph's Hospital and Kingsway Care Centre for the excellent care and compassion shown to Joyce over the years. Your kindness will never be forgotten.

At the family's request, no visitation will be held. A Memorial Service was held on Tuesday, March 20, 2018 at 2:00 PM from Kennebecasis Community Funeral Home Chapel, 152 Pettingill Road, Quispamsis, NB (849-2119) with a reception to follow.
