We regret to announce the sudden passing of Bernie MacKinnon, age 53, on Tuesday, March 20, 2018, at home.
Born in Sydney Mines on April 17, 1964, Bernie was the son of Margaret (MacKinnon) MacIntyre.
His favourite hobby was darts, and he played in many different leagues over the years. He also loved playing cards, but most of all he loved his cat, Toots.
Bernie is survived by his mother, Margaret, and his partner, Joanne Leamon. He also leaves behind his brothers, Benny MacKinnon and Michael MacIntyre (Laura MacKay); sisters, Sharon (John) Gibbons and Mary Pearo (Jason Church); sisters-in-law, Cathy Leach and Donna Barkhouse, and brother-in-law, Paul Barkhouse.
He was predeceased by his step-father, Clarence Pearo.
His family will receive visitors on Friday, March 23, 2018, from 10-11 a.m. in J.M. Jobes Funeral Home, Main St., Sydney Mines. A celebration of Bernie’s life will take place at 11 a.m. in the funeral home with Deacon Greg Murphy officiating.
