It is with sadness that we announce the peaceful, unexpected passing of John Caines on Monday, March 19, 2018 in Glace Bay Hospital. Born to the late Harold and Esther (Harris) Caines on May 15, 1946.
John is survived by his son, Harold (Dawn); daughter, Lesley Caines and step daughter, Sheila; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; brother, Jerry, and sister, Olive Vokey (Sam).
Besides his parents, John is predeceased by his wife, Brenda; son, Todd; brothers, Leslie, Billy and Jimmy, as well as sisters, Shirley Dube and Rhoda Caines.
John was a quiet man who enjoyed the outdoors especially fishing and hunting. He worked as a coal miner for over 30 years.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 24 at 11 a.m. at Patten Funeral Home with Rev. Myrna MacMullin officiating.
