Jeffrey Alan Dickie

Dickey, Jeffrey Alan – 67, Truro, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, on Wednesday, March 21, 2018, in the QEII, VG site. Jeff was the son of the late John Franklyn “Jiggs” and Margaret “Peggy” Dickey.
He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Susan; sons, Matt and Greg; brothers, Roger, New Ross; Glen (Janet), Calgary; Jim (Donalda), Halifax; nephews, Angus, Geordie and Daniel; nieces, Krista, Lauren, and Emily.
He is predeceased by his parents and younger brother, Gerald.
Jeff graduated from St. Mary’s University in 1972 with a Bachelor of Science Degree. He worked in British Columbia for several years before returning home to Nova Scotia to pursue a career in finance. He recently retired from Hollis Wealth after 37 years as an investment advisor.
Jeff had many great memories of playing sports with his friends and brothers. He played golf for many years with Brookfield and Truro friends, culminating in 2017, by winning the 30th Annual Bopper Jiggs Golf Tournament on Nova Scotia’s South Shore. He played with the Middle Stewiacke Cougars hockey team; on one occasion, teaming up with all four brothers. Jeff went on to play with the Truro Bearcats from 1967 to 1970. He continued to play some University hockey at St. Mary’s and Dalhousie. In later years, he enjoyed playing with the Cruise Missiles Oldtimers. His greatest joy was coaching his sons and attending their hockey games. He was always supportive and encouraging.
Jeff supported many community organizations. He sat on the Don Henderson Memorial Sportsplex Board of Directors and he coached minor hockey.
Jeff will be remembered for his competitive spirit and his friendly personality. He was always quick to help other people and offer words of encouragement. Jeff will be greatly missed by his family, friends and beloved dog, Duke.
A celebration of Jeff’s life will be held on Monday, March 26 at 1 p.m. in the Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow St., Truro. A reception will follow the service. No flowers by family request. Donations in Jeff’s memory may be made to a charity of your personal choice. Special thanks to Dr. Michael Murray, VON, and the caring staff at the Victoria General, floors 8A and 6A, for their support and assistance.
