Agnes Ruby LeBlanc (nee Moss) was born in 1924 in Weldon Saskatchewan to Mathias Friis (Frank) Moss (1880-1966) and Olga Johanna Moss (nee Ree) (1894-1971). Agnes was the youngest and the last surviving of four siblings, Alma(1918-1977) , Jennie(1919-1995) and Lloyd (1920-2008).

Agnes grew up on the farm with her family. She shared a few glimpses of that time with us when we were growing up, such as milking the cows and raising turkeys. She recalled riding the horse with her brother Lloyd to school, and snowshoeing to school in winter.

She went to Toronto when she was 18 to work in a rifle factory for several months. She subsequently moved to the Vancouver area with her mother and father in 1944.

She was married to Leo LeBlanc in 1945 who passed suddenly in 2002. She lovingly raised (with Leo) and is survived by her four sons Gary (Pati), Roger (June), Rick (Karen), and Mike (Phyllis). She leaves 12 grandchildren (Dean, Paige, Aaron, Justin, Niels, Amanda, Michael, Andy, Paul, Emily, Hannah, and Sam) and 17 great grandchildren.

Agnes was a loving and caring mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Her children have wonderful memories of so many things of course including her baking. Pies for every occasion (not too sweet) and at Christmas especially the mincemeat tarts (very thin) and fattigmann (which she always described as not quite right – but was always wonderful). She was proud of her Norwegian heritage and tried to teach a little (without much success) to her kids.

She made the family house and front yard, in North Delta, BC, the place to be, for the neighbourhood kid friends. She also had a unique Easter treat treasure hunt clue system that is an important memory of her children (and some of her grandchildren).

She was unabashedly proud of all her grandchildren their adventures, their careers, and of course in turn their children – her great grandchildren.

Agnes remained close to her many nieces and nephews in her later years and enjoyed sharing family news with them. She also maintained a close friendship with Vi and Roy Kisinski, a connection that dated back to the 1940s, as well as other friends, old and new.

The family is very appreciative of the support and well wishes mom received from friends, nieces, and nephews as well as from staff and residents of the Peninsula in White Rock, BC during her illness, as well as for the excellent care she received at Peace Arch Hospital, BC.
