David William Gillis
It is with sadness that we announce the passing of David William 'Spyder' Gillis, 77, of Glace Bay, formerly of New Waterford, on March 31, 2018, with his son and daughter-in-law by his side at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Bill was a coal miner for several years at various mines in the New Waterford area. His pride and joy was his granddaughter, Jennie Higgins.
Surviving are a son, Warren (April) Higgins, Sydney; granddaughter, Jennie Higgins.
He was predeceased by his common-law partner, Kay MacDonald.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held on Friday, April 6, 2018 from 10 a.m. until the time of the Funeral Service at Noon all in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home Chapel, 380 Smith Street, New Waterford. Father Ray Huntley officiating. Following the service, there will be a luncheon held at the Knights of Columbus Hall, Plummer Avenue, New Waterford.
