It is with great sorrow that we the family of Paul Landry announce his passing on April 4, 2018 at the C.B. Regional Hospital surrounded by family and friends. Paul was the son of the late Doug and Eileen (nee Cusack) Landry of Paul’s Hotel in Sydney.
In his younger years, Paul was an altar boy with Sacred Heart Parish and a Scout Leader with Scouts Canada. He enjoyed hiking, camping and spent many summers at Camp Beaver. Paul’s love of nature and the outdoors was shared with his family every summer at music festivals and camping adventures across Cape Breton Island and beyond. Paul retired as a Stationary Engineer with the Sydney Steel Plant. He was an avid gardener and carpenter who also enjoyed woodworking. Paul loved nothing more than to dance all night with his wife and to have his family all together for gatherings around the dinner table, a bonfire or a family game night.
Paul is survived by his loving wife, Brenda whom he has loved for 50 years; daughter, Kim Landry (James Squires) Halifax; sons, Michael (Judith) Landry, Lawrencetown and Mark (Amanda) Landry, Toronto; brothers, Colin (Barb) Sydney, D.A. (Ann Francis) Sydney. Papa/Grand-Dad will be sadly missed by his grandchildren, Danielle, Mackenzie, Aubrey, Liberty, Faith, Aidan and Evy.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation will take place at S.W. Chant & Son Funeral Home on Monday, April 9, 2018, from 12 p.m.-1:45 p.m.
A Celebration of Life will take place in the Funeral Home Chapel, beginning at 2 p.m., with Fr. Bill Burke officiating, and a reception will follow.
In honour of Paul’s memory we request that you donate blood and sign your organ donor card.
