New Glasgow - Doris Theresa Cameron. It is with great sadness that we announce the passing, of our mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, peacefully in the Aberdeen Hospital, Palliative Care on Monday, April 30, 2018, at the age of 87. Born in New Glasgow NS, she was a daughter of the late George and Rose (MacDonald) MacPhee. She was the loving wife of the late Purvis Cameron. After raising her 9 children, Doris graduated from NSIT with honors, and she received the Governor General Award.
Mom was totally devoted to her family and faith. Doris will be greatly missed by her daughters: Ann (Jim) Allen, Dorothy Hines, Mary (Frank) Bray; and sons: Joseph (Fientja), George (Kathy), Alan (Michele), Philip (Donna); numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, Charlie (Pam) MacPhee; sister, Bernadette, as well as many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husband, Doris was predeceased by sons, William and Thomas; brother, Tom and sister, Ursy.
Visitation will be from 6-8 pm, Thursday, May 3, in the R.H. Porter Funeral Home, 55 Almont Ave., New Glasgow. Mass of Christian burial will be held 10 am Friday, May 4, at Saint John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, Fr. Vargheese officiating, followed by burial in Holy Cross Cemetery. Donations in her memory may be made to a charity of choice. Saint John the Baptist CWL will meet at the funeral home at 5:30 pm Thursday for prayers. Something to Think About. By Doris. If all you have to give is a prayer and a smile, offer them willingly—share them often. Sometimes caring is all that is needed for a person’s troubles to soften.
