
Normand Bastarache
BASTARACHE, NORMAND A - 1939 – 2011 Normand A. Bastarache, 71 of Bouctouche passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, at his residence on Friday, May 20th, 2011. He was married to Irène (Boucher) Bastarache. Born in Bouctouche on August 22nd, 1939 he was the son of Germaine (Roy) Bastarache of Bouctouche and the late Aubrey Bastarache. Normand was well known in the community for all of his involvement in local committees. In the early years Normand worked for 25 years, for IOC of Canada in Sept-Iles, Québec prior to moving back to his home town where he founded and operated Bastarache Auto Body in Bouctouche. Normand was co-owner of the “Centre de Santé” in Bouctouche, and co-owner of Kent Ambulances. He was also a 4th degree K of C. He will be sadly missed be his wife and mother, two children Carole Savoie (Claude) of Bouctouche and Normand Jr. of Sept-îles, Que., and three grandchildren Jonathan, Sébastien and Karine. He also leaves to mourn three sisters; Rose-Marie LeBlanc (Normand) of Dieppe, Marguerite Bastarache of Bouctouche, Francine Bastarache of Cocagne and two brothers; Jean-Philippe (Shirley) of Bouctouche and Michel (Linda) of Shediac and several nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by one sister Annette.
Visitations will be held at Maillet Funeral Home, 29 rue de l’église, Bouctouche on Sunday, May 22nd from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9, and Monday from 1:30 pm to 2:45 pm. Funeral Mass will be held at the Saint-Jean Baptiste Roman Catholic Church, Bouctouche on Monday, May 23rd, 2011 at 3:00 pm with interment in the parish cemetery. In Normand’s memory donations can be made to the Dr Georges L Dumont Hospital Foundation (Oncology).
