Lewis Andrews

Born In: Coxheath, Nova Scotia, Canada

Passed in: SYDNEY, Nova Scotia, Canada
Passed on: May 20th, 2011

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Lewis Gerald Andrews on Friday, May 20, 2011, at Harbourstone Enhanced Care.
Born in Coxheath, N.S., he was the only child of the late Lewis and Edith Andrews.
He was a longtime member of St. Mark’s Anglican Church in Coxheath.
Growing up on a farm, Lewis continued the tradition set by his parents and ran a successful dairy farm for many years. He also took great pride in his vegetable gardens passing on his gardening expertise to his children and grandchildren over the years.
After the closure of the dairy farm, Lewis was the owner/operator of an electrical contracting business - Andrews Electric, which operated on Townsend Street, in Sydney, for many years.
Lewis, his family and friends spent many wonderful summers at the cottage in Northside East Bay, where the whole family enjoyed boating and waterskiing. He collected many trophies for his hydroplane racing. Lewis loved to read and was well known for his quick wit and sense of humour.
Lewis is survived by five children, Gail (Kevin) Quinn, Wayne (Anne), Craig (Marylyn), Brent, and Laurel (Duncan) Barkhouse, as well as the mother of his children, Beryl McDonald (Robertson). Also surviving are 14 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
In honouring Lewis’ wishes, cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation and a burial service will take place at a later date.
Memorial donations in Lewis’ memory may be made to the Cape Breton SPCA, as he was a lover of animals.
The family would like to thank all the staff at Harbourstone Enhanced Care - LeVatte’s Lane for all their care and support.
Condolences may be sent to the family at www.sydneymemorialchapel.ca.
