It is with great sadness we announce the sudden passing at home of Glenn William Johnstone born June 5, 1964, age 53. Glenn was the loving son of Vera Johnstone (Imlay) formerly of Riverside, Guysborough County and the late Lewis Johnstone, formerly of Country Harbour, Guysborough County. Glenn will leave behind his loving wife, best friend and soulmate of 30 years, Myrna (Cruickshank); brother and best friend Alex (Karen) Johnstone, Greenwood; sister, Thirza (Max) Reid, New Glasgow, and; mother-in-law Frances Zentner; brother-in-law Barry (Melinda) Cruickshank, MacLellan's Brook and uncle to Melissa (DJ), Kayla, Logan (Jordan), Jillian (Jake), Dylan, Nathan (Jacqulyn), Jenna (Luke), Marla (Alex); two beautiful great nephews, Landen, Liam and great niece Skye. Glenn was predeceased by his father-in-law Grant Cruickshank and stepfather-in-law Kenneth Zentner.
Glenn was proud to begin his working career at the Sunny Brae Tool Handle Factory at the side of his father. He continued his passion toward perfecting axe handles when he purchased the factory in 1993. He also worked with Gallery Carpet, G. MacLean Carpet Installation, with his father-in-law at K. S. Cruickshank & Sons Ltd. and Pepsi Ltd. for many years.
Glenn was an avid collector of many treasures and could be found at the Sunday Morning Flea Market in New Glasgow. Glenn will be remembered for his humour and wit. He will be greatly missed by his family, extended family and life long friends.
Glenn was a kind and gentle man who will never be forgotten.
The arrangements will be held at HW Angus Funeral Home, New Glasgow. The family will receive visitors on Monday, May 28 from 1-3 and 6-8. Funeral is under the direction of Rev. Gail Johnson-Murdock and will be held Tuesday, May 29th at 11 am in the funeral home chapel. Burial will take place in the Sunny Brae Cemetery. Family flowers only. Donations may be made to the Sunny Brae Cemetery, the SPCA or charity of your choice.
