Passed peacefully away at St. Clare’s Mercy Hospital surrounded by his loving family, Austin Kenny, aged 84 years. Predeceased by his parents Frank and Phoebe Kenny; brothers Brendan, Gus, Des (Jo); sister Sheila (Burge) Connolly; brothers and sisters-in-law Robert Moore, Mary Melamed, Betty (Don) Duff, Tom (Betty) Moore, Paula Moore, Philip (Delores) Moore; and special friends Hal and Kay Field. Leaving to mourn with loving and cherished memories his wife of 62 years, Anita (Moore) and their nine children Brenda (Michael) Moriarity, Paula (Gus) Lundrigan, Sharon, Stephanie (David) Walsh, Denice (John) Butler, Michelle (Gerard) Purcell, Renée (Leonard) Dawe, Wynne-Anne (Frank) Tobin and Austin (Wendy); 23 grandchildren, Michael (Leanne), Colin (Nancy), Frances (Matt), Brandon, Amy (Jimmy), Jason (Sam), Kayla (Shawn), Sarah (Spence), John Daniel (Amanda), Syrena (Nick), Catherine, Tyler (Madison), Jasmine (Kyle), Allan, Leanne, Brian, Anthony, Amanda, Patrick, Caitlin (Keegan), Ryan (Alana), Nathan (Beth), and Declan; 13 great-grandchildren Lily, McKinlee, Emma, Ivory, Violet, Maddox, Nixon, James, Addison, Aaliyah, Ellena and Lexi; and welcoming his newest great-grandson John Wyatt, arriving just hours before his passing. Austin will also be remembered with love by sisters Brenda (Herb) Carter and Ann (George) Rowe; sister-in-law Aileen Kenny; and many nieces and nephews, other relatives, and friends. Austin was a long-time employee of Terra Nova Tel, now known as Bell Aliant; he was a member of the Bell Aliant Pioneers’ Club and a lifetime member (52 years) of the Royal Canadian Airforce Club. Resting at Caul’s Funeral Home, LeMarchant Road, on Sunday, May 27, 2018 and Monday, May 28, 2018 from 2-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at Corpus Christi Church on Tuesday, May 29, 2018 at 9:30 a.m. Interment to follow in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Donations can be made to St. Vincent-de-Paul Society, Corpus Christi Parish, or a charity of one’s choice.
