Douglas Fairbanks Snowdon

SACKVILLE, N.B.- It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Douglas Fairbanks Snowdon on Thursday, May 24, 2018 at the age of 84.
Born in Sackville, he was the son of the late Harvey and Ada (Crossman) Snowdon.
Doug first worked in the enamel shop at Enterprise Foundry, leaving there to start his own business, Doug’s Taxi and finally ending his working life at Wheaton’s All In One. He was an avid bowler in his earlier years, setting many records at the Sackville Bowling Alley and helping his teammates with many victories for the Marven Cup. Doug still holds the record at the bowling alley from the 1970’s for the highest single score of 193. He was a champion horseshoe pitcher and was also an avid hunter, spending a lot of time at his camp in Canaan. Special thanks to Dr. Graeme Stewart for his care over the past several years and to Tantramar Extramural for their wonderful help. Also, an extra thank you to Judy for her many trips to Moncton and for her love and support.
Doug will be deeply missed by his wife of 48 years, Louise (Smith); daughter, Judy Ells, Sackville and by his beloved grandson, Stephen, Moncton.
Besides his parents, he was preceded by his brothers, Leonard and Walter; his sisters, Lillian, Fern and Joyce; his son-in-law, Donald Ells, as well as by his nephew, Harvard.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Campbell’s Funeral Home, 89 Bridge Street, Sackville, N.B. (506) 364-8188. Visiting hours took place at the funeral home on Saturday, May 26, 2018 from 1 pm until the time of the funeral service at 3 pm. The funeral service took place at 3 pm with Rev. Colin Holmes officiating. The burial took place in the Four Corners Cemetery.
