It is with great sadness that the family of the late John Robert Shears announces his passing on May 31, 2018 at Corner Brook Long Term Care at the age of 76 years. John leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his wife of 54 years Marie; his son Robert Shears (Viva); daughter Bonnie (Craig) Fowler; grandchildren: Joshua and Marissa Shears, Nathan and Nadia Fowler; siblings: Pauline Payne, Floyd (Olga), Ben (Georgina), Tom (Bonnie), Ella Penney (Frank); and sister-in-law Blanche Shears; as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Predeceased by his parents James E. Shears and Dorcas May (nee Clarke); brother James W. Shears; sisters: Joan White (Jack), Mary Loveys; in-laws: Alton Payne, Betty Shears, Rendell Snow and Alwin Loveys. Visitation will take place on Saturday, June 2 from 7-9 pm and June 3 from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm at St. Matthew’s Anglican Church, Rocky Harbour from where the Funeral service will be held on Monday, June 4th at 2 pm with Rev. Kay Short officiating. Interment to follow at St. Matthews Anglican Church Cemetery.
