Robert Blaise MacDonald

MacDonald, Robert Blaise – 60, of Truro. It is with heavy hearts that we mourn the sudden passing of Robert Blaise MacDonald on June 2, 2018 in the Colchester East Hants Health Centre. Born in Antigonish on June 22, 1957 he was the only son of Christina (McKeough) and the late Robert “Bob” MacDonald.
Blaise grew up in Linwood where he graduated from Antigonish East High School. He worked at Crosley Carpet Mills Limited for 25 years and most recently found his work family at TDR Transportation and Logistics. He was an avid music lover and a lifelong Toronto Maple Leafs and Pittsburgh Steelers fan and liked nothing better than watching the game with his son, Nathan. A loving father, son, brother and friend, he was always upbeat despite a 32 year battle with lupus and found it impossible to say ‘no’ to anyone.
He is survived by his cherished daughter, Christina MacDonald (Julien Wickstrom), Ottawa, ON; sisters, Mary MacEachern, Linwood; Maureen MacDonald, Halifax; Margaret MacEachern, Stellarton; Bonnie Pilkington, Dartmouth; former wife, Ruth McCabe, Truro. He was predeceased by his treasured son, Nathan; brother-in-law, Ron.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall – Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro where visitation will be held 6-8 pm Monday, June 11, 2018. Funeral mass will be 11am Wednesday, June 13, 2018 at St. Paul’s Catholic Church, Havre Boucher, Father Allan MacPhie officiating. Reception will follow. Burial in St. Paul’s Church Cemetery.
The family is grateful for the love and support of the ICU staff at the Colchester East Hants Health Centre during Blaise’s final hours. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Lupus Society of Nova Scotia or Kidney Foundation of Nova Scotia. Private messages of condolence may be sent to the family by viewing Blaise’s obituary on-line and selecting "Send A Condolence" at: www.mattatallvarnerfh.com
