PETER JOSEPH O'QUINN

Born: October 14th, 1926

Passed on: June 20th, 2018

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Peter Joseph O‘Quinn of North Sydney. Peter, the son of the late John and Jeanette (MacAllister) O’Quinn, was born October 14, 1926 and left us peacefully on Wednesday, June 20, 2018, surrounded by his loving family, at the age of 91.
Peter was predeceased by Theresa, his devoted wife of 65 years; daughters, Patricia and Brenda; sons, Hugh and Patrick; sisters, Mary and Jenny; brothers, Joseph, Gus, Cyril and Raymond, and grandchildren, Paul and Patricia.
He is survived by his sister, Irene; his sons, David (Patsy), Tony (Alena), Arthur, and Ted (Stephanie), all of North Sydney, Leonard (Diane), Ontario, Tim (Sherri), Saskatchewan; grandchildren, Renee, Jeannie, Hughie, Shelley, Damian, Patrick, Collette, Bridy, Jennifer, Christina and Victoria; as well as many great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
Peter was a lifetime member of the Carpenters Union, Local 1588. Even after his official retirement he could be found out in the barn, working on a project for someone in his free time. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. However, his most enjoyable times were spent with his wife Theresa at their cabin in Beaver Cove. That was their home away from home, and they spent as much time there as they possibly could.
We would like to thank the doctors and staff in both CCU and the Palliative Care Unit at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, especially Nurse Joe (Chris). They treated Peter with the utmost respect and ensured that his comfort was their main priority.
A Celebration of Life for both Peter and Theresa will be held 10 a.m. Monday, June 25, 2018 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in North Sydney with Rev. Patrick O’Neill officiating. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. All are welcome to return to the church to share stories and enjoy a light lunch provided by St. Joseph Church Funeral Reception.
Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney.
In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made in Peter's name to the Palliative Care Unit at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.
Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.wjdooley.com.
