Passed peacefully while surrounded by his family at the Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre on Monday, June 25, 2018 at the age of 85.
Devoted husband of Anne for 61 years. Loving father of Sylvia Baker (Ian) and James MacDonald. Cherished grandfather of James-Lee, Noelle (Shane) and Hope.
Survived by his brothers, Bill, Danial, Neil, Frank, and sisters, Beth and Loretta.
Predeceased by brothers, Ian, Johnny, Pearson and Michael. He will be sadly missed by many nieces, nephews and life-long friends.
James was a devout Catholic, was very proud of his 50 years of sobriety in AA and was a long-time member of Ironworkers Union Local 721. Visitation will take place at the Steckley-Gooderham Funeral Home, 201 Minet’s Point Rd., Barrie on Thursday, June 28, 2018 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., with funeral Mass taking place at St. John Vianney church, 13 Baldwin Lane, Barrie on Friday, June 29th at 10 a.m. Following the interment at St. Mary’s cemetery, guests are invited back to the Parish Hall for a reception luncheon.
In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Vincent de Paul would be greatly appreciated by the family.
