Albert ‘Wayne’ MCSWEEN

Passed on: June 25th, 2018

We, the family, are sad to announce the peaceful passing of Wayne in ICU at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, after a brief illness, surrounded by his loving family on June 25, 2018. Wayne was born May 22, 1954 in Glace Bay, the only son of the late Albert ‘Bert’ and Beatrice ‘Beatty’ Sharpe.
He is survived by his two daughters, Melissa and Crystal; his two grandsons, all in Ontario; five sisters, Roberta, Colorado, Lorraine (Wayne), Alberta, Geraldine, BC, Corinne (Greg) and Natalie (Tom), Ontario; Uncle Ray Sharpe and Laura Lee Sharpe with whom he resided with for 15 years; many loving aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins, as well as his chosen family, John and Mary (Twink) Taylor, Diana and A.J.
Wayne worked construction in Ontario most of his life but worked last as a bartender at the Sergeants Mess, which he loved and met lots of great people and friends.
Wayne enjoyed golfing, bowling, playing crib, Sudoku and crossword puzzles and reading and watching T.V. with Ray, especially wrestling and western movies. He was anxiously waiting for the Toronto Maple Leafs to win the cup. He loved our dogs, Tippy and Brandy and walked them faithfully.
The family would like to extend our sincere appreciation and thanks to the staff of the CBRH ER, 4A, 4C, CCU and ICU, Palliative Care, Drs. Brake, Hebb, Morrison, Shabaan and Wong and especially Dr. C.Critchley for their care and compassion during this difficult time.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held Monday, July 2, 2018 from 12-2 p.m. with the memorial service immediately following at 2 p.m. with Father Patrick O’Neill officiating at T.J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, 370 Reserve St., Glace Bay, NS 902-849-4199. Reception to follow.
No flowers by request. Donations may be made to the Cape Breton Regional Library, Glace Bay or Reserve Mines Branch, as Wayne was an avid reader.
