Sevigny, Donna May
April 9, 1941 – July 23, 2018
It is with great sadness our family announces the passing of Donna May Sevigny (nee Soyland) (Brown) of Prince Albert, SK on July 23rd, 2018 at the age of 77.
Donna will be forever loved and sadly missed by her spouse Maurice, children Terry (Bonnie) Brown, Todd and Tracey; as well as grandchildren Amanda, Wade, Brittany, Dylan (Jenna), Samantha and Karsten, as well as special great-granddaughter Lily. She is survived by her spouse Maurice’s children, Sandra (Stan), Doug (Kathy), Duane (Marcel), and Norma as well as grandchildren Skyler, Jeraden, Taylor, Kyle, and Courtney. Donna is also survived by two brothers, Richard Soyland and Warne Soyland as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews and a host of long-time friends. She was predeceased by her parents, step-mother Rita Soyland and loving husband, Alexander Brown. Donna was born to Signy (Brekken) and Ole Soyland on April 9, 1941 in Birch Hills, Saskatchewan. She was a fighter (her nickname in school was “spitfire”) and always made the best of every situation and could always find the good in anyone she met. She started her career in banking at the age of 17 with the CIBC. In 1958 she married Alex Brown and they began their family of three children. They moved to Saskatoon in 1966 until 1976, when they moved back to Birch Hills to take over the family farm. Donna then resumed her career in banking and began working for the Bank of Montreal. There she worked her way to Assistant Manager until her health forced an early retirement. Donna was a beautiful, caring lady. One example of this was when she herself was a young mother she took in a young foster child because she wanted a little girl to have a home where she felt and was safe and loved. She was a wonderful farm wife and mother and her family meant the world to her. She loved having her grandchildren around her and there were many happy memories whether it was baking in the kitchen, at the lake or even just sitting around the kitchen table with family and enjoying a coffee together. She was proud of her Norwegian heritage and made the best kumla ever! Donna was lucky to love twice. After losing her husband Alex to cancer in 1991 she met and married Maurice Sevigny. They enjoyed summer holidays at Waskesiu and Donna’s family reunions in Laughlin, Nevada.Although she endured considerable pain over her later years, she still carried on the best she could under the circumstances and she never complained. Mom, we take comfort in knowing that you are now at peace. A special thank you to Dr. Martha Van Heerden, Prince Albert Home Care and the staff at the Victoria Union Hospital ER (Lori and the Doctor) and the 6th Floor staff, as well as Parkland Ambulance for the excellent and compassionate care Mom received while in their care during the last days.
