Steve was one hell of a stand-up man: generous of spirit, fond of a witty remark, welcoming of visitors, open handed with his scotch, and never short of a shrewd political opinion. He passed peacefully away at Carbonear General Hospital on Sunday, August 5, 2018 surrounded by his loving family, Stephen Augustus Hurley of North River, aged 73 years. Predeceased by his father Stephen Hurley Sr., brother John Hurley, brothers-in-law Leo O’Dell, Louis Walker. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories is his devoted wife Florence Hurley (nee Hall), mother Regina Hurley (nee Kelly), sons: Blair (Sherrey), Martin (Tracey), daughters: Stephanie (Tracy) Mason, Rachel (Jonathan) Lambert, Heather (Cecil) Spracklin, grandchildren: Brennen, Madison, Eoin, Ronan, Magdalene, Liam, D’Arcy, Zoe, Nya, Benjamin, Lily, brothers: Noel (Elizabeth), Kevin (Regina), Robert (Chantal), Brian (Beverley), sisters: Jeanette (Robert) Pottier, Judy O’Dell, Karen (Graham) Hanley, sister-in-law Bertha, special caregiver Donna Caravan. Resting at Moore’s Funeral Home, Clarke’s Beach with visitation on Monday from 7-9 PM and Tuesday from 10-12 Noon, 2-5 PM and 7-9 PM. Funeral service to take place on Wednesday, August 8, 2018 at 10:30 AM from All Hallows R.C. Church, North River. Flowers gratefully accepted. Cremation to take place with inurnment at a later date.
