DURHAM – Gordon Stanley Peddle, 75, Durham, passed away Friday, August 10, 2018, surrounded by his family in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow, after a brief illness.
Born in Sydney, he was a son of the late Stanley Joseph and Violet Mae (Gruchy) Peddle. Prior to retirement Gordon was employed with Michelin Tire, Granton for 28 years, having previously been employed at the Sydney Steel Plant prior to moving to Pictou County in 1979. He was a master craftsman, leaving his special touch with brick and stone on the many beautiful hearths, fireplaces, stone walls, chimneys and family memorials he created. Gordon possessed a kind heart and a passion for dancing. He and his late wife, Nancy, sponsored many children through World Vision Canada. Since Nancy’s passing in 2012, Gordon awaited this reunion and now they will dance forever through the stars.
Surviving are daughters, Lisa Rogers, Thorburn; Lori (Scott) Morrison, West River Station; Kathi MacConnell, Pleasant Valley; grandsons, Ryan (Christina), Andrew (Riley), Brook, Morgan (Renèe); great-grandchildren, Jaxson, Sawyer, Parker, Henley; sisters, Shirley (Floyd) Matheson, Mira; Carole Baxter, Mira; brother, Edward, Sydney; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife of 47 years, Nancy (Geddes); nephew, Craig Peddle; sister-in-law, Lois Peddle; son-in-law, Doug MacConnell.
The family will receive visitors 1-1:50 p.m. Tuesday, August 14th in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow from where funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. with Rev. Dr. Glen Matheson officiating.
