Kathryn Mary (Kay) Foxton

Foxton, Kathryn Mary (Kay) died peacefully on August 7, 2018 in Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Charlottetown, P.E.I. Born in Belfast, P.E.I. to the late Malcom (Monty) and Allena (MacPhee) MacLeod on June 30, 1922, she taught in one room schools in rural P.E.I. for five years. In July 1945, shortly after V.J. Day, she came to Halifax to visit her aunt who was living here at the time and the rest, as they say, is history. First living in Halifax and since 1970 in Dartmouth, her working life for 35 years was spent in the accounting department of the Atlantic District office of Dominion Stores Ltd. Halifax. She was a long time active member of the Presbyterian Church of St. David Halifax, where she served as the envelope steward for many years and assisted in various projects including the well-known Lenten Chowder lunches. Her hobbies included gardening and reading. Kay will be remembered by her family and wide circle of special neighbours and friends for her genuine interest in people and the world around her. She was predeceased by her husband of 50 years William (Bill) Foxton; her sister, Florence Gillis; her nephew, Ronald Gillis; her step-son-in-law, Dale Keddy; and her step-grandson, Scott (Linda) Keddy. She is survived by her stepdaughter, Donna Keddy; her nephew, Carl (Ester) Gillis; nieces, Kathryn Gillis, Nancy (Derrick) Cameron, and Cindy Gillis; step-granddaughter, Leanne (Pat) Furey; step-great-grandchildren, Alicia (Sean) Collins and Christopher Furey; step-great-great-granddaughter Nora; five grand-nieces and nephews; ten great-grand-nieces and nephews; and her cousins Doris (Donald) MacDonald and Pat and Shirley Cleave. Cremation has taken place and a graveside service will be held at 11 am on Saturday September 1, 2018 at Dartmouth Memorial Gardens (767 Main Street Dartmouth) followed by a social time at the Atlantic Funeral Home lounge. Family flowers only please. Donations to the Presbyterian Church of St. David, Feed Nova Scotia, or a charity of the donor’s choice in Kay’s memory would be appreciated.
