Leonard Ralph MacNeil

Leonard Ralph MacNeil – 85, Truro. It is with great sadness the family of Leonard Ralph MacNeil announces his passing on Friday, August 10, 2018 in Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro. He was born September 17, 1932 in Egerton, Pictou County to Reginald and Ethel (Lockhart) MacNeil. Leonard worked many years with CNR and VIA Rail Canada in both Antigonish and Truro, until his retirement. He loved to walk, skate and play cards at his church hall with his many friends. He is survived by his wife, Betty (Andrea) and six children, Jackie Woodworth (Scott), Karen MacDougall (Chris) and grandson Daniel; Peter and grandchildren Cayla and Scott; Billy (Jackie) and grandchildren Liam and Sophia; Patricia Kaiser (Stephen) and grandchildren Meagan and James; Margaret and grandson Thomas. Also surviving are great-grandson Elliott, sister, Josephine McInnes and family, and many sisters in law and brothers in law. Leonard was predeceased by his parents, his brother Billy at a young age, three siblings in infancy, his brother-in-law, Bill McInnes and his beloved grandson, Charlie MacDougall. The family would like to thank Dr. Bruce Phillips, the doctors, nurses and staff of the ICU Cardiology unit at the QEII, the staff doctors, nurses and staff of the Emergency Department, ICU Unit, Palliative Care Unit and the 3rd Floor of the Colchester East Hants Health Centre for their compassionate care. Arrangements have been entrusted to Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow St., Truro from where visitation was held Sunday evening, August 12 from 7-9 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Monday, August 13 at 11 a.m. in Immaculate Conception Church, 669 Prince St., Truro. Father Dariusz Miskowicz was celebrant and was assisted by Father Joseph Thomas. Reception followed in Campbell Hall. Interment has taken place in Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Robie St., Truro. Family flowers only. If so desired, donations in Leonard’s memory may be made to St. Vincent de Paul Society or Kane’s Kitchen in care of Immaculate Conception Church or charity of one’s choice.
