Gerald Joseph Nightingale

It is with heavy hearts that we, the family, announce the passing of our dear husband, father and grandfather Gerald Joseph Nightingale on his 79th birthday August 16, 2018, at the Glace Bay Hospital with loving family at his side.
Born in Glace Bay he was the son of the late Albert and Rachel (Burke) Nightingale.
Gerald was employed with DEVCO for 25 years until his retirement. He loved to spend his pass time hunting, fishing and took great pride and many hours tying and preparing his flies for his next fishing trip. Gerald’s greatest joy was spending time with his family. Gerald was a longtime fan of the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Toronto Blue Jays.
Gerald is survived by his loving wife, Mae; daughter, Susie (Dean); sons, Jerry ‘Moose’ (Shelly) and Murray (Katherine); grandchildren, Jessica, Alex, Breton and Cody; sisters, Karen, Marie (Fred), Eileen, Louise, Colleen (Billy) and Diane (Gord), and brother, Albert (Sharon).
Besides his parents he was predeceased by brothers, Johnny and Billy; sister, Kathleen (Sis).
In following Gerald’s wishes cremation has taken place under the care and direction of Patten Funeral Home, 71 Union St., Glace Bay. Funeral service will take place on Wednesday, August 22, 2018 at 1 p.m. in Patten Funeral Home Chapel.
