ROBARTS, Reginald Curtis Reg, or as he was affectionately known as Sue or Uncle Sue, passed away peacefully at the age of 90, with family by his side on Saturday, August 18, 2018 in Hants Community Hospital Windsor. Born February 3, 1928 in Windsor, he was a son of the late Curtis F. and Edith Mae (Carmichael) Robarts. Reg served during the Second World War as a Trooper from 1944-1945 with the 36th Reconnaissance Regiment, then in the Militia with the 47th Anti-Tank Regiment and 14th Field Regiment as Second Warrant Officer. Reg went on to have a successful career with Nova Scotia Light & Power from 1948-1992, starting as a lineman and retiring as District Supervisor. He was a past member of the Windsor Volunteer Fire Department. Past President of Hants County Branch No. 009, Royal Canadian Legion, Windsor and Past President of National Campers & Hikers Association.
Reg is survived by his son, David (Mary), Hantsport; daughter, Roxanne, Martins Point; grandchildren, Melanie (Brent), and their son, Lucas, all of Ottawa; Devin and Christina, both of Hantsport; brothers, Karl, Dale and Colin; sister, Myrtle; sisters-in-law, Irene Durocher, Florine MacNeil and Doris Coulombe; also several nieces, nephews and cousins and special companion, Marguerite Foster, Windsor Elms Village, Falmouth. Besides his parents, Reg was predeceased by his wife, the former Mona M. Coulombe (2008); brothers, William, Stuart and Donald; and sister, Margaret. Special thanks to the Doctors, Nurses and staff of Unit 200 for all their loving care. Arrangements were entrusted to DeMont Family Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 419 Albert St., Windsor (902-798-8317), where the family received visitors from 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, August 21. Funeral service was held 11 a.m. Wednesday, August 22 in DeMont Family Funeral Home Chapel, Rev. Rob Heffernan officiated. Interment followed in St. John’s Parish Cemetery, Wiley Ave., Windsor. Donations in memory of Reg may be made to the Hants County SPCA, PO Box 2274, Windsor, NS B0N 2T0 or Canadian Cancer Society, NS Division, 5826 South St., Halifax, NS B3H 1S6 or a charity of one’s choice.
