It is with profound sadness that we, the family of Howard Peach Jr., 73, announce his passing peacefully at home with his family by his side on Sunday, August 26, 2018.
Born June 12, 1945, he was the son of Gertrude (Nearing) Peach and the late Howard Peach.
Growing up in Port Morien, he loved sports and played hockey for St. Michaels High and Glace Bay Junior Miners. He had a passion for fast cars and speed which changed with age as anyone caught behind him in traffic can attest to. He loved his family and grandchildren who brought him joy daily. A boilermaker by trade, he loved his work and made many lifelong friends. He was proud to be area manager for ABB before retiring.
Howard is survived by his mother, Gertie Peach, a resident of Seaview Manor; his loving wife, Aileen (Murrant) Peach; sons, Stephen (Maryam), Vancouver, BC, Desi (Sheila), Salmon Arm, BC, Noel (Lindsay), Halifax, Jared (Jill), Port Morien, and daughter, Allison Pinhorn (Wayne), Port Caledonia.
Also surviving are his eight grandchildren, Aaron, Mena, Shaelyn, Deon, Naomi, Elliott, Charlie, Dani; and his brother, Dougie (Gloria) of Marion Bridge.
Howard was predeceased by his father, Howard Sr. and a nephew, Keithie.
Cremation has taken place under the care of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay. No visitation, as per Howard’s wishes.
The Funeral Mass will take place at Holy Cross Church, Glace Bay on Saturday, September 1st at 11 a.m. with Fr. Norman MacPhee officiating. The reception will follow in the church hall. Interment in Forest Haven Memorial Gardens.
Memorial donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
